Elijah The prophet 1 Kings 17 1-24

I would like to start by telling the story of Elijah the prophet raising the dead. I read this all morning and prayed the same prayer. This is my shorted version.

God sent Elijah to flee out of Israel and to hide by a brook. Elijah goes but then the brook dries up, so God sends a widow living in the town to Elijah, to feed him. When Elijah finds her and asks to be fed, she says that she does not have sufficient food to keep her and her own son alive. Elijah tells her that God will not allow her supply of flour or oil to run out, saying, “Don’t be afraid..this is what the Lord, the God of Israel, says: ‘The jar of flour will not be used up and the jug of oil will not run dry until the day the Lord gives rain on the land. So the woman trusts and she feeds him the last of their food, and Elijah’s promise miraculously comes true. By this act of faith the woman received the promised blessing. God gave her manna from heaven. Some time later, the widow’s son dies, and the widow cried to Elijah, “Did you come to remind me of my sin and kill my son?” Moved by a faith, Elijah prays that God might restore her son so that the veracity and trustworthiness of God’s word might be demonstrated. Elijah took the boy from his mother and carried the dead boy upstairs where he cried out to the lord and said  “O Lord my God, I pray thee, let this child’s soul come into him again” Elijah cried this prayer three times laying over the boy and the Lord heard the voice of Elijah and the soul of the boy came into him again and he was revived. Elijah brought the widow her son and she cried out, “…the word of the Lord from your mouth is the truth.”

So our baby boy is done with surgery! The surgeon came and took Ronnie and I in a private room where he told us Elijah was done with surgery and has a new shunt put in, just as planned. However from Elijah being a preemie and all the trauma E has been through in 8 short days that he is having a few issues with bleeding. Because of his fragile body tissue and the amount of blood Elijah was losing they ended up having to put Eli on the bypass machine. We were hoping they wouldn’t have to use this, but knew it might have to be an option, unfortunately it was. The good part of this is they did not have to stop Eli’s heart and they were able to keep his body warm for the the bypass machine. The scary part of this is Eli still had to have his blood thinned and for Eli this could effect his prior brain bleed, this is something we will not find out about until the doctors perform another head ultrasound, in the coming days. Dr Bove also stated that Eli’s Pulmonary Artery looked relatively normal in size to him and decided it would be Ok until Eli’s 2nd surgery (between 3-6 months of age). Also while looking at the sinusoid he could not tie this off because he just couldn’t tell how the sinusoid was feeding the coronary arteries, so again we are leaving these until the 2nd surgery too. Eli’s heart did great coming on and off of bypass and it never even skipped a beat.

Elijah also had 2 small drains but in his body to help protect his Kidneys. They can use the drains for dialysis if needed or just as an option for drainage. The doctor said Eli was still filled with a lot of bloody liquid when they opened his chest and as soon as the fluid came off he saw an immediate improvement in Eli’s stats. So we are happy they took this step to help protect Eli!

Eli is still in the operating room and they were waiting to close him until they had his bleeding under control. We are waiting to hear when he is moved to the Bull Pin again. Ronnie and I will be the only ones allowed to see Elijah today but we will keep everyone informed on his progress, to pass along updates. If everyone right now who reads this can say a prayer that Eli will stop bleeding so they can close his body, this would mean a great deal to us.

Also for the next 48 hours Eli will be very unstable so please don’t stop praying for our little miracle, God is hearing us cry out and he is listening!

I don’t have the energy to proof read this because of the emotion it brings so understand.Image

  5. PRAYING CONSTANTLY and Many, Many Many others are continuing to PRAY too!!! I also have a great story to share! While Eli was in surgery, my Mom was waiting to have her CT scan this a.m. @ U of M and she was talking to a lady who was waiting for her son who was having a test on his heart. The lady told my Mom her son had Hypo Plastic Right Heart Syndrome which was found before he was born, just like Elijah! Of course my Mom told her all about Elijah! The lady told her Dr. Bove has done all her sons surgeries and he is 16 now and doing Great!!! She said Dr. Bove is absolutely Wonderful!!! Her son was having a routine test on his heart today. I’m Certain God connected my Mom with this lady so she could share another Wonderful Dr. Bove success story with us all!! I believe it’s another GOD-incidence since I don’t believe in coincidence!!! TRUST IN THE LORD!!! PRAYERS Continue!!! I Love You All Very Much!!!
